The maekake is a traditional apron that has been used since the Edo period.
It serves to protect the body by tightening the hip bones.
This maekake apron is decorated with the world's most famous Japanese artwork, "The Great Wave" by Katsushika Hokusai. This product is also sold at the British Museum.
Our maekake aprons are woven using a 100-year-old Toyota shuttle loom.
